erinatal Asphyxia in the Rat has Lifelong ffects on Morphology , Cognitive Functions , nd Behavior

چکیده
erinatal asphyxia (PA) is a major determinant of neurological morbidity and mortality in the eonatal period. Many studies have been investigating neurological deficits following PA, including eizures, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, as well as psychiatric deficits. Most research performed o far has been focusing on acute or subacute sequelae and has uncovered a variety of morphological, eurochemical, behavioral, and cognitive changes following PA. However, information on long-term equelae of animals that underwent a period of PA is scanty. Perinatally asphyxiated rats at the end f their life span present with immunohistochemical and synaptic changes as well as changes in brain rotein expression. Furthermore, deficits in cognitive function tested in the Morris water maze and hanges in social behavior were described. In this review, we are summarizing and discussing eported effects of global PA on morphology, cognitive functions, and behavior in rats at the end of heir life span. 2004 Elsevier Inc. Anticonvulsant and ameliorative effects of pioglitazone on cognitive deficits, inflammation and apoptosis in the hippocampus of rat pups exposed to febrile seizure
Objective(s): Pioglitazone (PGZ), a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) agonist, has significant neuroprotective effects and has been reported to regulate inflammatory processes.Materials and Methods: We evaluated the effects of PGZ on febrile seizure (FS) in rat pups. Three groups of male rat pups received intraperitoneal (IP) injections of PGZ (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg). Lipo...

Objective: The academic success of students has great importance for family, educators and the community. Specific learning disorder reduces students' academic performance and make education difficult. Today, it is necessary to pay more attention to dyscalculia due to the increasing prevalence of learning disorders (especially dyscalculia), its diagnosis and assessment, develop new remediation ...

“Executive functions” are used as an umbrella term that are broader than cognition and incorporates a range of interrelated processes responsible for goal-directed behavior. Most of the findings from interventional studies have confirmed the effective and sustained benefits of training executive functions in academic performance. Most of these studies, both working memory and attent...
متن کاملEffect of Predatory Stress Before Fertilization on Body Weight and Pentylenetetrazole-Induced Seizure in Rat Offspring
Background and Objective: Spermatogenesis and oogenesis stress is a primary epigenetic element that can cause lifelong modifications in neural system functions. This study was designed to elucidate whether preconceptional stress during spermatogenesis and oogenesis affects the seizure behaviors and body weight of the offspring later in life. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 1...
متن کاملThe effect of agonist and antagonist of Nociceptine/Orphanin FQ receptor on seizure and cognitive dysfunction in experimental model of temporal lobe epilepsy in male rat
Background: Temporal lobe epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by spontaneous seizures, learning and memory deficiency, loss of neurons, mossy fiber sprouting and tissue apoptosis. This study was to investigate the effect of NOP receptor agonist (MCOPPB) and antagonist (SB612111) on seizure and cognitive dysfunction and histological studies in experimental model of temporal...
